In the Carpathian region, two criminal proceedings were opened regarding the death of a student. This was reported by the police of the Ivano-Frankivsk region.
As stated by Alla Boychuk, head of juvenile prevention department of GUNP in Ivano-Frankivsk region, proceedings were opened for improper performance of duties to protect the life and health of children (Article 137) and for murder by negligence (Article 119 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).
According to him, about 15 children attended the lesson – students in grades 9, 10 and 11.
“Practical classes began despite all safety measures; the conditions for conducting such a lesson were not provided. Practical shooting with pneumatic weapons began in the public corridor without instructions, Boychuk said.
He noted that the shots were fired from a distance of 7 m. The fatal shot occurred 2-3 m from the victim.
“Again, while reloading the weapon, the boy turned to the victim and that time the shot was a single shot. Instead of a safety catch, the boy pulled the trigger,” said the head of the juvenile prevention department of the GUNP in the region of Ivano-Frankivsk.
The teenager who did this immediately called an ambulance and ran out of the school to meet with doctors. The teacher was there and, according to him, tried to help the victim.
The ambulance confirmed the death of the student. He died before doctors arrived from a gunshot wound to the chest area.
As established, the school where the tragedy occurred, at the request of the management, received three air rifles for the correct conduct of the lesson. Defense of Ukraine. They do not need special permits. The police are investigating which educational institutions have such weapons, how they are used and under what conditions.
