The representatives supported the new government’s program, which promises to end state military aid to Ukraine.
The Slovak Parliament on Tuesday, November 21, voted to give a vote of confidence to the government of Prime Minister Robert Fico. MPs backed a program that promises to end state military aid to Ukraine, slowly reduce the budget deficit and introduce a new banking tax, Reuters reports.
Fico won the elections in September thanks to a campaign against critical media, Western partners and liberal policies, and on October 25, he was named Slovak prime minister Zuzana Caputova for the fourth time .
The coalition adopted its political program last week. Parliament supported it during a vote on Tuesday, November 21.
The program contained Fico’s election promise to end official military aid to Slovakia.
The opposition in Slovakia’s parliament voted against the program because of Fico’s attacks on independent media and the release of police officers investigating members of the new ruling coalition for bribery.
Earlier, the TARS news agency reported that Slovakia will oppose the European Union’s 12th package of sanctions against Russia if it includes a ban on the import of Russian nuclear fuel.
