In France, one of the commander’s famous hats, which he wore at the beginning of the 19th century, went under the hammer.
One of Napoleon Bonaparte’s famous hats was sold for 1.9 million euros at an auction in Paris. France24 reported this on Sunday, November 19, in relation to the French auction house Osenat.
Historians say that the hat helped to identify the French commander on the battlefield.
The name of the buyer who bought the hat remains unknown.
A black beaver hat with attached cockade was previously estimated at 600-800 thousand euros by the Osenat auction house. It was sold with other things of the French emperor, especially a silver plate and a wooden cosmetic bag, inside which there was a razor, a silver brush, scissors and other things.
According to historians, the hat was part of the image of the French commander, and wearing it at his side made him recognizable in battle.
Napoleon owned approximately 120 double-horned hats, of which only 20 are believed to have survived.
The sale attracted collectors from all over the world and generated huge interest, exceeding the expectations of the auction organizers.
It was previously reported that a guitar from Kurt Cobain’s last tour sold at auction for $1.6 million.
A new record price for a bottle of whiskey has been set.
