The launch was again unsuccessful. And although all 33 engines of the first stage of the rocket worked well, at an altitude of 59 km the stage was disconnected from the Starship as planned, but did not return to the ground. It exploded in the air.
The ship continued to move around the orbit using its six engines. However, the signal from Straship disappeared after about 15 minutes of flight. It looks like it exploded. The ship has a self-destruct system after a planned engine shutdown.
Let us remind you that SpaceX and NASA launched the Psyche mission on October 13 to the Psyche asteroid, located between Mars and Jupiter. The Psyche spacecraft is set to study a metal-rich asteroid and probe its nickel-iron core. The mission will also test the Deep Space Optical Communications (DSOC) system.
