The congress of the leading political force was held in Budapest on Saturday, November 18. Orbán was only one candidate to head the party. Delegates gave him 1,190 votes. Four current deputy prime ministers of Hungary were re-elected as vice-chairmen of the party. This was reported by the Hungarian publication Nepszava.
As you know, Viktor Orban led Fidesz from 1993 to 2000 and continuously from 2003 to the present day. Orbán was last re-elected at the party congress in November 2021.
The current Hungarian authorities often allow critical rhetoric towards Ukraine. Recently, she has stepped up her threats to block the start of negotiations on Ukraine’s accession to the European Union due to alleged oppression of the rights of the Hungarian minority in Ukraine.
Let us recall that at the end of October, Hungary and Slovakia opposed the provision of 50 billion euros to Ukraine. In particular, Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban said that “EU support does not work,” and his Slovak colleague Robert Fico referred to problems of corruption in Ukraine
