    This program will last from May 6 to August 23, 2024 and is designed for Ukrainian university students whose studies were affected by the full-scale Russian invasion, the university’s press service reports.

    The program is open to students registered at Ukrainian universities in the fourth year of undergraduate and any level of master’s or doctoral programs for the current academic year (2023/2024).

    Applications are particularly encouraged from candidates interested in areas of study related to engineering, computer science and mathematics, but all other majors offered at the University of Waterloo will be considered, the release said.

    The program will have a research and production direction – it will cover all travel costs and provide on-campus housing and a stipend.

    To participate in the program, a student must meet the following requirements:

    • senior bachelor (IV year), master or Ph.D. student for Fall 2023;
    • enrolled in the current academic year (2023/2024) at a Ukrainian university;
    • major in engineering, computer science, mathematics or another scientific field represented at the University of Waterloo;
    • an overall grade point average of at least 80% in their undergraduate studies and 85% in their graduate programs;
    • Good command of English is essential for effective academic communication (approximate minimum levels: TOEFL ~80, IELTS ~6.5, Cambridge ~175, CAEL ~60, PTE ~60, EFAS ~75%, Duolingo ~110).

    You can apply for participation in the program on the university website using the link.

    Once your application is received, your application will be reviewed by the program administration team. Those who pass the first stage of selection will be invited to an online conversation.

    Applicants are encouraged to apply as early as possible as applications will be reviewed on an ongoing basis. The first set of interviews will be conducted and the first offers will be made before the end of 2023. The deadline for submitting applications is 9.00 a.m. Eastern Standard Time on January 2, 2024, notes the university press service.
