The aggressor has already expanded the missions of its A-50 airborne early warning and control aircraft. The aircraft is supposed to detect targets over Ukraine for its S-400 long-range surface-to-air missile system. This, in turn, complements the main mission of the aircraft, which is to coordinate the actions of fighter jets. The UK Ministry of Defense announced this on Twitter on November 17.
Also, British intelligence does not rule out that Russia will take an even greater risk and overturn the A-50 reconnaissance aircraft closer to the front line in Ukraine.
Let us remind you that on November 13, a training center for pilots on F-16 fighters was opened in the Romanian city of Fetesti. Romanian pilots will begin training tomorrow; there is no exact date for the start of training for Ukrainians, but this will happen “in the near future.”
It is unclear when Ukraine will actually be able to deploy combat aircraft in the combat zone, as previously planned. It is expected that pilot training will take at least six months.
