The United States wants to strengthen the stability of Ukraine’s energy system, which is under the threat of Russian attacks.
The United States will continue to strengthen the stability of Ukraine’s energy system and plans to allocate about $500 million more to protect it from Russian attacks. US Assistant Secretary of State for Energy Resources Geoffrey Pyatt announced this at a briefing on Thursday, November 16, Ukrinform reports.
“The United States has already given Ukraine more than $520 million in aid for the energy sector. We know another $500 million is on the way,” he said.
Paett added that these funds will be used to meet urgent needs, in particular, the search for new transformers and capacities to restore Ukraine’s energy infrastructure.
“Vladimir Putin has tried to weaponize the winter cold and use the winter as a tool to break the will of the Ukrainian people. I am confident that he will fail,” the State Department spokesman said.
According to him, the United States is working with the Ukrainian government to build a decentralized energy system that is fully integrated with the European energy system.
The previous day, the enemy destroyed the area near the thermal power plant in the Donetsk region, and also damaged a medium-pressure gas pipeline in the Kharkov region.
In the past, the Russians attacked thermal power plants and an oil refinery facility. Consumers in six regions of Ukraine were partially left without electricity supply.
