Britain confirms the rigor of further support for Ukrainians in the fight against Russian aggression.
British Defense Secretary Grant Shapps said the government would support British defense companies “helping countries like Ukraine” because it was in London’s interests. The head of the British Defense Department wrote this on Thursday, November 16, online. X (Twitter).
“British defense companies keep us safe, help countries like Ukraine protect their independence and act globally as champions on behalf of the UK. We will fully support them against those who want to destroy the industry through so-called ethical investment rules that are not only immoral, but also dangerous,” Shapps said.
Thus, Shapps responded to the intentions of one of Britain’s largest investors to “withdraw support for defense companies.”
The minister noted that the British defense industry employs nearly 200 thousand people.
“There is nothing unethical about investing in UK defence, its thriving industry is critical to protecting our way of life, especially at a time of such global uncertainty. It would be immoral for investors to abandon our companies in defense which helps employ more than 200,000 people across the UK, without it we wouldn’t be able to give Ukraine the means to protect its independence,” Shapps said.
The Russian authorities will not be able to “wait out” the war in Ukraine and it is useless to hope that the West will lose interest in other states. British Foreign Secretary David Cameron said this during his visit to Kyiv.
As already written, about a thousand Ukrainian marines completed training in Britain, where they practiced water landing operations in small boats and coastal raids.
In addition, young Ukrainian pilots will go to the UK, where they will learn to work with F-16 fighters.
