On Wednesday, November 15, the head of European diplomacy, Josep Borrell, together with the European Commission, presented to member states a proposal for a twelfth package of sanctions against the Russian Federation. Borrell said this in a statement.
The Europeans have decided to impose sanctions against more than 120 individuals and legal entities for their role in undermining the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Ukraine. Representatives of the Russian military, defense and IT sectors, as well as “other important economic operators,” will be included in the sanctions lists.
Separately, mention is made of the need to punish those involved in pseudo-elections in the temporarily Russian-occupied territories of Ukraine, who are responsible for the forced “re-education” of Ukrainian children. Sanctions will also apply to individuals disseminating Kremlin propaganda and disinformation.
In addition, the European Commission proposed introducing new import and export bans, as well as measures to strengthen the oil price ceiling and counter evasion of EU sanctions.
Let us remind you that on November 8, the UK introduced new sanctions against the Russian Federation – the list was replenished with 29 companies and individuals associated with Russian business in the field of gold, oil and strategic sectors.
