Hubert Seipel is a German journalist, documentary filmmaker and writer. His two books are about the Russian president, Putin. The logic of power” and “Putin’s power. Why does Europe need Russia” became bestsellers with tens of thousands of copies sold. Seipel’s documentary film “I, Putin. Portrait” was nominated for a German television award for best reportage.
Although Seipel has been accused of not being critical of what he heard in the Kremlin, some Germans consider him one of the best experts on Russia.
Journalists from Important Stories, Paper Trail Media, Der Spiegel and ZDF analyzed Cypriot legal documents and found that in 2018 Seipel signed a 60-year “sponsorship agreement” with the shell company De Vere Worldwide Corporation from the British Virgin Islands.
Money for payments to Seipel came to this company from offshore companies, the beneficiary of which was Russian billionaire Alexey Mordashov.
Secrets of Cyprus (Cyprus Confidential) is a global investigation based on the leak of 3.6 million documents from six Cypriot companies involved in company registration and consulting. It was conducted by 270 journalists from 69 media outlets under the auspices of the International Consortium of Investigative Journalists (ICIJ) and the German Paper Trail Media.
