This is stated in a Washington Post investigation. The newspaper believes that Greece’s largest oil refinery, Motor Oil Hellas, continues to receive Russian oil products, but does so through Turkey. The publication writes about this after studying the fuel flows between the MOH plant and the Turkish oil depot in the city of Dörtel.
Fuel is purchased from Rosneft by a company from the UAE, then it ends up in oil storage facilities in Turkey, ownership changes several times, Russian oil is mixed with other brands and ends up at the Greek oil refinery Motor Oil Hellas, which even serves the US armed forces.
Turkey has not imposed sanctions against Russia, so its enterprises have the right to accept Russian fuel, but the Greek refinery is prohibited from doing so.
The Greek company told investors it had stopped accepting banned oil and had found other sources.
The complexity of the situation is that Motor Oil Hellas is not an ordinary plant. It is one of the ten largest suppliers of fuel to the Pentagon. Therefore, if the WP information is confirmed, this means that the American ministry is unwittingly receiving petroleum products of Russian origin. Since March 2022, when the United States imposed an oil embargo against Russia, the Pentagon has signed new contracts worth almost $1 billion. from Motor Oil Hellas.
Italy, France, Spain and the UK also buy petroleum products from the Greek refinery.
Also, the Greek Motor Oil Hellas supplies petroleum products to government and corporate buyers in Italy, France, Spain and the UK.
