Russia regrets that Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan will not participate in the summit of the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO), which will take place on November 23 in Minsk. Kremlin Speaker Dmitry Peskov said this at a briefing on Tuesday, November 14.
“If this is really the case, we can express regret. We understand that each head of government or head of state may have his own steps in his work schedule, his own circumstances. But we can only express regret, because such meetings are a very good reason for exchanging opinions, for checking clocks,” he said.
According to Peskov, the format of the Collective Security Treaty Organization remains relevant. “And the meetings organized and held within the CSTO speak about this,” he added.
Remind you that today it became known that Pashinyan decided to ignore the CSTO summit, he said this in a telephone conversation with the formal leader of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko.
Recently, Armenian representatives did not participate in CSTO events. Armenia also recalled its ambassador from this organization, but did not appoint a new one.
Armenia also said that being in the CSTO “creates problems.” Official Yerevan began to talk about the importance of cooperation with Western security partners.
The CSTO is a military-political international organization that includes Belarus, Armenia, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Russia and Tajikistan. It was created as a specific analogue of NATO.
