The head of the OP informed the US Secretary of State about the situation at the front and the priority needs of the Ukrainian Defense Forces.
Head of the Office of the President Andriy Yermak on Monday, November 13, met with US Secretary of State Antony Blinken in Washington. This was reported by the OP’s press service.
On behalf of the President of Ukraine, Ermak expressed gratitude to the administration of President Joe Biden, both houses of the US Congress and the entire American people “for the unprecedented assistance provided to our state in the fight against Russian aggression .”
The head of the Office of the President thanked the White House for sending a request to finance aid costs to Ukraine and expressed hope for its approval by American lawmakers.
Ermak told Blinken in detail about the situation at the front. He said American weapons have proven effective on the battlefield and help deter Russian aggressors. The head of the OP informed the US Secretary of State about the priority needs of the Ukrainian Defense Forces. Separately, the importance of providing our state with air defense assets was noted.
“As winter approaches, we expect an increase in Russian missile threats. Therefore, we really need air defense systems that will protect Ukrainian cities, key critical infrastructure facilities, as well as those grain corridor route,” emphasized Ermak.
The Head of the Office of the President focused on the importance of quickly concluding a bilateral agreement between Ukraine and the United States on security guarantees in compliance with the G7 Joint Declaration on support for our country, signed in Vilnius on July 12 .
It was also noted that an exchange of views took place on other issues on the bilateral agenda, in particular, on increasing the pressure of sanctions on Russia and developing a mechanism for directing the frozen assets of Russia to the restoration of Ukraine. In addition, the parties paid attention to the situation in the Middle East.
We remind you that US President Joe Biden is trying to convince the US Congress to support aid to both Ukraine and Israel and to approve a new aid package of $106 billion, including more than $61 billion in funds to help Ukraine.
On November 2, the US House of Representatives, led by new Speaker Mike Johnson, passed a bill to allocate military aid to Israel totaling $14.3 billion. However, this project did not provide assistance to Ukraine. Because of this, it was not accepted by the upper house of Congress.
