In Paris, thousands of people gathered for a large-scale civil march against anti-Semitism, BFM TV reports.

Famous French politicians can be seen at the head of the column that started at the Place des Invalides, with a large banner “For the Republic against anti-Semitism.”

In addition to the two organizers, Gerard Larcher and Yael Braun-Pivet, Prime Minister Elisabeth Borne and former presidents Francois Hollande and Nicolas Sarkozy were also present.

Former prime ministers such as Jean Castex, Edouard Philippe, Bernard Cazeneuve, Jean-Marc Ayrault and Manuel Valls were also present.

However, French President Emmanuel Macron, after several days of indecision, said on Saturday that he would not participate in the rally, but would be present “in heart and spirit.”

“I have never been to a protest about any issue. My role… is to make decisions, say the right words when necessary and act,” Macron said.

Paris authorities have deployed 3,000 police officers along the protest route. Despite the security risks, the action attracted a large number of participants – according to preliminary police estimates, more than 100 thousand people took part in the march.

More than 70 rallies were announced across France on Sunday to reject anti-Semitism.

In Nice, around 3,000 people, according to police, took part on the beach in a “huge rally for the Republic and against anti-Semitism” at the call of the city’s mayor, Christian Estrosi, and the local branch of the Representative Council of Jewish Institutions in France.

Several thousand people gathered in Strasbourg on Sunday morning, including several representatives of the French LFI party from Paris.

In Lyon, more than 3,000 people, according to the prefecture, gathered in Place Bellecour, in a light rain, in front of the watching statue of Peter, a monument to the French resistance to Nazi occupation.

Let’s remember that two illegal immigrants were detained in Paris, who, at the request of “people from Russia,” painted Stars of David on houses – a symbol of the Jewish religion and the state of Israel.
