Due to the great damage caused by Russian equipment, the Russian Federation is increasingly using infantry in battles – ISW

The Russian army is increasingly relying on infantry during assaults due to large losses of equipment.

    .

One of the so-called Russian military commanders recently stated that the Russian practice of conducting tactical assaults to storm Ukrainian fortifications in the forested areas of Donbass will not lead to a wider operational breakthrough anywhere on the front. Moscow does not currently have the capacity to train sufficient numbers of Russian personnel for the intense front-line offensive required to make a significant advance in Ukraine. This was reported by the Institute for the Study of War (ISW).

And another blogger argued that the Russian army is about to experience a “real renaissance of infantry combat”, as there are fewer tanks, infantry fighting vehicles and armored personnel carriers near the front line. The first military correspondent responded to the comment about the revival of the infantry and emphasized that such information negatively reflects Russian losses of equipment on the battlefield.

A Telegram channel associated with Russian special forces also complains that reliance on infantry-led assaults is hurting all special forces units fighting in Ukraine. Therefore, special forces are not intended for battles conducted by motorized rifle troops.

Russian forces are increasingly relying on such front-line infantry-led attacks, likely to compensate for a lack of adequately trained personnel and massive equipment losses, ISW notes.

Let us remind you that the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Valery Zaluzhny said that during the month of assaults on Avdiivka, the total enemy casualties in manpower amounted to about 10 thousand people. The Ukrainian Armed Forces destroyed 100 enemy tanks, 250 armored vehicles, about fifty artillery systems and seven Su-25 aircraft.
