December will be “decisive” as Ukraine desperately tries to rid its territories of counter-offensive operations. French President Emmanuel Macron said this in an interview with the BBC.
He noted that it is the “duty” of France and all countries to support Ukraine in its defense. But he added that the next month “will be decisive” as Ukraine works to regain ground lost during counter-offensive operations.
Macron said it was “not yet time” for Ukraine to sit at the negotiating table and stressed the decision to negotiate only with Kyiv. At the same time, the French leader added that the time may come “to conduct fair and efficient negotiations, return to the negotiating table and find a solution with Russia.”
The French president also said that if Russia is allowed to win the war, “you will have a new imperial state” in Europe that could threaten other former Soviet states such as Georgia and Kazakhstan, as well as the entire continent.
“Because what Russia is doing in Ukraine is definitely imperialism and colonialism,” Macron said.
