The Askold missile ship, after a strike at the Zaliv shipyard in Kerch, occupied the Crimea, received significant damage and is unlikely to be repaired.
The Directorate of Strategic Communications of the Armed Forces of Ukraine confirmed the defeat of the Russian Askold launch vehicle in Crimea, temporarily occupied by the Russians. Stratcom announced this on Monday, November 6, on Facebook.
“Confirmed. The Russian Askold launch vehicle, the newest ship of the Karakurt project with stealth technology, was damaged as a result of the AFU hitting the maritime and port infrastructure of the Zaliv plant in the temporarily occupied Crimea,” the message said.
Let’s recall that on November 4, the Ukrainian military attacked the Zaliv shipyard in Kerch in the occupied Crimea. On its territory at that moment stood Askold, one of the most modern ships of the Russian Black Sea Fleet.
The Askold is a 22800 Karakurt-class small missile ship that can carry up to eight Caliber missiles.
As we have already written, an air raid alert was declared in Crimea. The Russians set up a smoke screen near the Crimean Bridge and in Sevastopol Bay, and explosions were heard. Occupation authorities traditionally announced successful air defense operations. Later on social networks it was reported that the strike hit the shipyard and the small missile ship Askold.
