Sevastopol will not be a safe naval base for the Russians, says Dmitry Pletenchuk.
Russian aggressors took an “operational pause” in the Black Sea after a series of successful attacks by the Ukrainian Armed Forces on enemy ships. The Speaker of the Naval Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Dmitry Pletenchuk said this in a telethon on Sunday, November 5.
According to him, now the situation in the Black Sea is stable and the Russians probably don’t understand what to do next. They need a pause to change their tactics.
“The first change they made was to split up the personnel. Maybe now they will decide how to use the other bases, because Sevastopol will never be a safe base for the Russians. So there is a calm today,” the Navy spokesman said.
According to Pletenchuk, there is now one enemy ship in the Black Sea and another in the Azov Sea. There are no rocket carriers among them.
“And even in the Mediterranean Sea there are only two units, but usually they are in whole groups,” he added.
Pletenchuk confirmed that on November 4, the Ukrainian Armed Forces attacked the Russian missile ship Askold. The extent of the damage will become clear once satellite images become available.
Earlier, President Vladimir Zelensky said that the Russian Black Sea Fleet is no longer capable of operating in the western part of the Black Sea, the president said.
