The Ukrainian Armed Forces became the first foreign operator of the Assault Breacher Vehicle, which drops minefields about 100-150 meters long at a time.
Ukrainian defenders received the M1150 ABV (Assault Breacher Vehicle) assault vehicle, made in the USA based on the Abrams tank. Defense Express reported this in connection with a video published by President Vladimir Zelensky on the Day of Missile Forces and Artillery and the Day of Engineering Troops, as well as a photo of the President’s Office.
The publication notes that there are no reports of the transfer of this vehicle to Ukraine, but in all likelihood, it arrived with Abrams tanks, the batch of which Ukraine received no later than mid-October.
It was noted that the Armed Forces of Ukraine became the second after the US Army and the first foreign operator of the machine. Australia received permission to purchase the M1150 in 2021, but there is no contract signing data yet.
According to the publication, the M1150 ABV is a new vehicle for creating passages in mines. Its system consists of a traditional plow and a system for launching linear explosive charges, which allows the explosion to penetrate minefields about 100-150 meters long at a time. At the same time, according to the International Institute for Strategic Studies, the US Army has only 149 M1150 ABV vehicles.
