The advanced capabilities of the latest model of the Spike NLOS family allow you to accurately identify and interact with targets.
Israeli defense concern RAFAEL on Thursday, June 9, introduced the Spike NLOS family’s sixth-generation Tamuz multifunctional anti-tank missile. This was reported by the publication Vesti Israel.
It is noted that the first generation of the missile entered service with the IDF about 40 years ago and since then the weapon has been sold to dozens of countries.
According to the publication, a number of rocket parameters have no analogues in the world, in particular, the simultaneous launch of up to four rockets from one installation, controlled by one operator.
“Missiles can fly at different distances, allowing you to destroy several targets simultaneously in different areas. In addition, the missile identifies the target using matching technology. “This is a unique algorithm where the missile captures an image of the target during flight, detects and hits it with incredible accuracy,” the article said.
It is emphasized that previous generations of missiles were launched according to coordinates, and the Tamuz-6 independently determined where the target was based on the image that goes to the optical and electronic sensors.
It also provides for the transfer of rocket control to the second side. For example, a helicopter located in the zone of enemy air defenses can launch a missile and leave the danger zone, and transfer control of the projectile to ground equipment.
The Tamuz-6 is capable of hitting targets at a distance of up to 50 km when launched from a helicopter, and up to 32 km when launched from the ground.
It was previously reported that the United States had conducted a successful test launch of a prototype hypersonic missile AGM-183A.
