The Beatles released a video for the song Now And Then, the group’s “last” composition, released on November 2. The video was edited by Peter Jackson, director of the “Lord of the Rings” and “Gobbit” trilogies, as well as the TV documentary about The Beatles Get Back.

The video uses documentary footage of the work on Now And Then, filmed in the 1990s and in 2023, contemporary footage of Paul McCartney and Ringo Star, filming of The Beatles in the 1960s, as well as “animated” photographs from the 1940s and 1950s. x x years.
Now And Then is the unfinished work of John Lennon that Paul McCartney has been dreaming of finishing for many years. This is the band’s first new song in 27 years – and, according to the official press release, its last.
The Beatles essentially ceased to exist in 1970 – and the separation was not amicable. One of the reasons had to do with the group’s affairs: Paul McCartney did not want to be managed by manager Allen Klein, who had been hired by John Lennon, George Harrison and Ringo Starr, and sued his friends to dissolve the partnership. In addition, the musicians clearly had accumulated personal and creative contradictions, and they began to speak harshly about each other in public – in particular, Lennon gave a program interview to Rolling Stone magazine, full of attacks on McCartney.
The band members only received a demo recording of the song from John Lenon’s wife Yoko Ono in 1994. Paul McCartney, Starr and Garrison worked on the song until 1995, when they realized that it would not be possible to separate John’s voice from the piano.
Everything has changed thanks to artificial intelligence. In 2021, during the filming of Peter Jackson’s documentary series Beatles: Get Back, which chronicled the making of the Let it Be album, John Lennon’s voice was separated from the piano.
Paul McCartney contributed bass, Ringo Starr added drums, and Capitol Studios added strings. The guitar part was written back in 1995 by George Harrison, who died in 2001.
All these memories come back. How lucky I am to have had these men in my life, to work so closely with them and to create such music. To continue working on Beatles music in 2023 is incredible,” McCartney commented on the release.
