The attackers, residents of Zaporozhye, created a fake phishing site similar to one of the well-known state banks.
Law enforcement officials exposed two fraudsters who deceived more than fifty displaced people and stole more than 400 thousand Hryvnias. This was reported by the National Police of Ukraine.
Representatives of one of the state-owned banks contacted the Kyiv police and reported that unknown persons, posing as employees of a financial institution, were making fraudulent actions against clients – withdraw money from their accounts.
“The suspects are residents of Zaporozhye – a 28-year-old man and a 42-year-old woman,” said Evgeniy Chernyakhovsky, head of the ordinary crimes investigation department of the Kyiv police investigation department.
The accomplices in crime created a fake phishing site similar to one of the well-known state banks, and then, under the guise of employees of this bank, they searched for immigrants in Telegram channels and -offer them the necessary financial assistance from foreign partners.
The suspects in total withdrew more than 400 thousand hryvnias from the accounts of citizens.
During searches of their residences, investigators seized notebooks with rough notes, documentation proving their criminal activities, computer equipment, mobile phones and SIM cards.
Investigators informed the attackers of suspected fraud. Now he faces 3 to 5 years in prison.
As we already wrote, in Dnipro, law enforcement officials detained 13 members of a criminal organization led by the so-called “supervisor”, who monthly defrauded gullible people of up to two million Hryvnias.
