According to the press service of the SBU, while in the position of chief specialist of the OVA cybersecurity department, he tried to secretly obtain secret information about the deployment of the Armed Forces of Ukraine and defense procurement in the region.
To obtain secret information, the Russian “mole” tried to use his access to government agency servers. However, the SBU officers acted proactively and detained the attacker, the report says.
According to the investigation, the enemy informant turned out to be a resident of Zaporozhye, a radio engineer by training.
Before joining the OVA, he worked at one of the local enterprises performing maintenance of military equipment of the Defense Forces, the SBU indicated.
In September, on his own initiative, he offered his assistance to the occupiers in the war against Ukraine. He wrote to one of the Russian chatbots created to collect information about the movement of Ukrainian Armed Forces units in front-line regions.
Then a career FSB officer contacted him and recruited him for cooperation. On instructions from the Russian intelligence service, the attacker secretly filmed the plant’s production facilities and the military equipment located there on his phone, the department added.
He also tried to find repair bases and other logistics centers for Ukrainian defenders on the territory of the regional center.
