Germany is committed to providing military support to Ukraine until 2030 and beyond. This was stated by the head of the Special Staff for Assistance to Ukraine at the German Ministry of Defense, Major General Christian Freuding in an interview with the newspapers Stuttgarter Zeitung and Stuttgarter Nachrichten.

According to him, after the start of the war in the Middle East, nothing changed for Germany.
It’s clear to us: we support Ukraine just like Israel,” the German general said.
He added that the initial situation in both countries is very different.
Ukraine’s armed forces are just beginning to modernize. The Israeli army is well equipped, well trained and ready to fight day in and day out. The economic opportunities of Ukraine and Israel are also completely different. Also, the nature of war is different,” Freding explained.
He noted that if at the beginning of the Great War it was mainly about situational support, now planning is underway for the long term.
Together with Ukraine and our partners, we are talking about what the Armed Forces of Ukraine should look like in the future. One thing is clear: military support for Ukraine is a task until the end of the decade and beyond. Our budget planning has already provided for funds until 2032, which indicates our determination,” the general noted.
Freiding stressed the need to help Ukraine develop capabilities so that it can remain a free state capable of defending itself and deterring attackers.
The general added that “the fight for freedom has no statute of limitations.”
