Ukraine has risen in the ranks of democracies

Ukraine rose 13 positions in 2022 and is now in 73rd place in the World Ranking of Democracies released by the International Institute for Democracy and Electoral Assistance (IDEA). The arbitration court ordered Russia to pay damages to the Ukrainian company in the amount of $267 million, including interest and legal costs as of the date of the decision. Interest will continue to accrue until the full amount of the loss is paid. The arbitral award is enforceable in accordance with the New York Convention of 1958. DTEK plans to immediately begin the process of recognition and entry into the enforcement of the decision in the territory of the states where the Russian assets are located.

US Treasury expands “black list” against Russia

US authorities have announced new restrictions on sanctions against Russia. This time, more than 30 individuals and nearly 200 legal entities were included in the blacklist. The Treasury noted that the sanctions “target Russia’s future energy production and revenues, metals and mining sectors, defense procurement and those involved in supporting the Russian government’s military efforts and other malicious activity.”
