Russia will remove from Japan the right to fish near Kuriles

The Japanese government has refused to pay for fishing quotas from the islands, the Russian side said.

Russia will remove from Japan the right to fish near the Kuril Islands. This was reported on June 10 by the Interfax agency in connection with the Deputy Prime Minister, Plenipotentiary Representative of the President of the Russian Federation in the Far Eastern Federal District Yuri Trutnev.

“In fact, we have already limited their right (to hunt), moreover, through their efforts. They have refused to pay for quotas for fishing from the Kuril Islands. Accordingly, this right will be removed from them, ”Trutnev said.

Earlier, Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova said Moscow had suspended the Russian-Japanese cooperation agreement in the field of harvesting marine living resources.

It will be recalled that in April, Japan recognized the Kuril Islands as “illegally occupied by Russia.”

In response, the Russian Federation said it would accelerate the development of the Kuriles industry and tourism.
