Yesterday, November 1st, they sent a letter to Biden. The White House praised the decision to transfer several Army limited-range tactical missile systems (ATACMS) to the Ukrainian Armed Forces. However, there was a request to send longer-range missile systems to Kyiv. The authors of the letter were Congressmen Michael McCaul and Mike Rogers, as well as Senators James Risch and Roger Wicker. This was reported by Reuters, which reviewed the text of the letter.
Ukraine’s need for deep strike capabilities remains urgent, especially for long-range engagement of targets throughout Crimea, the Republicans noted.
Lawmakers emphasized that Ukraine invited long-range ATACMS systems and demonstrated the ability to use them responsibly, and the Russian Federation did not escalate in response to their use. That’s why they called on Biden to “get the job done on ATACMS.”
Let us remind you that the US Department of Defense has authorized the Ukrainian Armed Forces to use ATACMS short-range ballistic missiles already transferred exclusively within Ukraine. However, it is not yet known how many of these missiles the Defense Forces received from the Pentagon.
