The Russian army is likely planning to switch to infantry-led frontal attacks after heavy artillery preparation. Thus, the invaders want to compensate for the heavy losses of equipment in Avdievka during October. This is stated in a new report from the American Institute for the Study of War (ISW).
From October 9 to 13, the invading army lost at least 99 vehicles during the first wave of attacks, 94 during the second wave from October 14 to 23, and four confirmed and 18 potential vehicles lost from October 24 to 31. Analysts write about this, citing GeoConfirmed data. In such a short period of time, these were the whitest losses of the occupiers since the beginning of Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine.
ISW notes that the current situation near Avdiivka demonstrates the broader failure of the General Staff of the Russian Armed Forces to learn and disseminate the lessons learned by its troops during previous unsuccessful offensive operations in Ukraine.
Let us remind you that in the Defense Forces of the Tauride direction, Alexander Shtupun said that Avdeevka is the biggest defeat of the Russian army, losses in this direction amount to almost 6.5 thousand people. In this section of the front, the Ukrainian Armed Forces destroyed 100 enemy tanks and about 250 units of other armored vehicles.
