Russia’s Defense Minister is confused about the number of F-16 fighters that Western partners have promised to provide to Ukraine.
Ukraine will only have enough F-16 fighter jets promised to it by Western countries for 20 days. This statement was made by Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu in a conference call on Wednesday, November 1.
According to his data, Russian air defenses apparently shot down 37 Ukrainian aircraft in October, and this appears to be double the number of F-16s that its Western allies promised to provide to Ukraine.
“37 planes (apparently shot down – ed.) – this is almost twice the number of F-16 aircraft guaranteed to be committed to Ukraine. That means, with this operation of our air defense system, it is about 20 working days,” said Shoigu.
Earlier, Shoigu announced that 24 people shot down Ukrainian planes in five days. He gave no evidence. At the same time, even in the first days of the war, the Russian aggressors repeatedly announced the “destruction” of all aviation and air defense of Ukraine.
The Russian minister was also confused about the number of F-16s promised to Ukraine. So, the Netherlands alone will provide 42 fighters. In turn, Denmark will provide 19 aircraft, six of them by the end of this year. The transfer of F-16s was also announced by Norway, which has about 60 aircraft.
