The Russian Su-57 fighter jet has received an intra-fuselage long-range cruise missile.
Russia announced the creation of a new aviation cruise missile for the Su-57 fighter. The Russian publication Kommersant reported this on October 31.
It is claimed that, with its smaller size, it has a range comparable to the missiles used in long-range aviation on the Tu-95MS and Tu-160 strategic bombers.
Air-launched long-range cruise missiles include projectiles capable of hitting a target at a distance of 600 km or more. In long-range aviation – from 1000 to 6500 km.
It was noted that Russian engineers achieved a reduction in the dimensions of the rocket due to “a new design of the folding wing and internal layout, as well as the use of a new small-sized bypass turbojet engine.”
The Su-57 is a fifth generation multirole fighter. There is a compartment inside the fuselage for storing ammunition. This is necessary to reduce the radar visibility of the aircraft.
Let’s remember that British intelligence previously reported that Russia is not in danger of using the Su-57 in Ukraine.
