In the Vinnytsia region, hepatitis A was detected in five more communities:

- in the Mogilev-Podolsk region;
- in Khmilnik;
- in Kalinovka;
- in Gaysin;
- in Kozyatyn.
There are 174 patients in hospitals with a confirmed diagnosis, including 29 children. Another 25 patients recovered.
The Ministry of Health of Ukraine is looking for the source of hepatitis A infection. Spalakh is spreading from the city of Vinnitsa. All schools in the city were closed for quarantine. A team of national-level epidemiologists has been sent to the city to find the source of infection.
The source of infection has not yet been established. The epidemiological investigation is ongoing.
Hepatitis A, better known as “Botkin’s disease,” is an inflammatory infectious disease of the liver. Infection occurs primarily through consumption of contaminated food, dirty water, or close contact with someone who is sick. In some cases, hepatitis A causes damage to the liver, kidneys, pancreas, joint pain and leads to death.
The most common symptoms include weakness, fever, diarrhea, vomiting, and jaundice.
