Speaker of the Air Force of the Ukrainian Armed Forces Yuriy Ignat spoke about this on air at a national telethon, the Ukrinform agency reports.
Every official in Europe or in the USA, an opinion leader or official voices it. And everyone has different dates,” Ignat noted. “We are relying on the spring, because if the process of training our pilots with aviation instructors has already begun, then, in principle, I think we can count on the statements made by the Ukrainian authorities.
According to Ignat, only one and a half hundred modern fighters could effectively protect the airspace of Ukraine.
According to him, if it were possible to replace the outdated fleet of Soviet equipment with modern F-16s and other types of aircraft, this would contribute to the accomplishment of a number of important tasks. He emphasized that with the advent of only the F-16 in our country, the situation will not change dramatically, but will have a significant impact.
We want to get this equipment as soon as possible, but the F-16 won’t be able to get anything sooner,” Ignat noted. “That’s why we’re looking forward to our training pilots.” The learning process is indeed not easy, preparing the infrastructure is not easy, preparing engineers is not easy either.
