The White House believes there is an “increased risk” of conflict spreading in the Middle East after pro-Iranian groups began attacking American troops.

We see increased threats to our troops throughout the region and an increased risk of this conflict spreading to other parts of the region. We are doing everything in our power to contain and prevent this,” US National Security Adviser Sullivan told CNN.
Over the past 10 days, pro-Iranian groups have attacked US military bases in Iraq at least 12 times and four times in Syria.
Asked on ABC News about what to expect if Iranian-backed groups continue to attempt attacks on U.S. forces in the region, Sullivan said:
The President has been very open about this: If American troops are attacked by Iran and its proxies, we will respond… and I think the Iranians got our message.
We are, of course, taking all necessary measures to protect our forces, increase our vigilance and work with other countries in the region to try to keep this conflict that is currently happening in Israel and Gaza from escalating into a regional conflict, but the risk is real, so vigilance is high and the steps we are taking to contain it and prevent it are serious, systematic and ongoing.
Last week, the US carried out airstrikes on two targets linked to Iran-backed militias in eastern Syria, following a series of missile and drone attacks on US forces in the region. Sullivan said the steps the US is taking to contain and prevent it are “serious, systematic and ongoing.”
Iran threatens Israel for crossing red lines. Tehran threatened that Israel’s “crimes” could “force everyone to act.” At the same time, in the Gaza Strip they talk about more than 8 thousand victims of Israeli strikes.
On October 29, the United States called on Israel to distinguish between civilians and Hamas militants in Gaza.
Israel must do everything possible to protect Palestinian civilians, the White House said. Sunak and Macron noted the need to deliver humanitarian aid to Gaza.
