The alliance leadership said the Ukrainian president “one way or another” was present at the meeting of NATO leaders.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky will participate in the meeting of heads of state and government of NATO, to be held in Madrid on June 28-30. This was announced on Thursday, June 9, by NATO Deputy Secretary General Mircea Geoane, quoted by La Reppublica.
According to him, for the first time the leaders of Australia, New Zealand, South Korea and Japan will speak at such a summit. Geoană added that President Zelensky will attend the meeting “in one way or another”.
The EFE agency reported that the Spanish government, in liaison with NATO and other institutions, is finalizing preparations for the summit. The final program of the meeting has not yet been approved by the alliance. After that, an invitation will be sent to participate in the meeting of the President of Ukraine.
Earlier, the head of the Presidential Office, Andriy Yermak, said that the EU and NATO need Ukraine as much as Ukraine needs them.
Recall that Zelensky divided the North Atlantic Alliance into five camps, depending on how the countries related to the war in Ukraine.
