The UN General Assembly overwhelmingly approved a resolution calling for an “immediate, permanent and sustainable humanitarian ceasefire” to “end the war” in the Gaza Strip.
Israeli Ambassador to the UN Gilad Erdan criticized the General Assembly resolution and said the UN is no longer legitimate or relevant. Haaretz reported this on Saturday, October 28.
Erdan accused supporters of the resolution of supporting “the protection of Nazi terrorists” instead of supporting Israel.
“This senseless resolution has the audacity to call for a truce. The purpose of this truce resolution is for Israel to stop defending itself against Hamas so that Hamas can burn us,” said the diplomat
In turn, Israeli Foreign Minister Eli Cohen, in his message to X (Twitter) called the resolution “disgusting” and said Israel would destroy Hamas “like the world did the Nazis.”
The UN General Assembly on Friday, October 27, by 120 votes, adopted a resolution on the protection of civilians in the war of Hamas against Israel and the need for a “humanitarian truce.”
14 countries voted against the resolution (including Israel and the United States), 45 abstained (including Ukraine).
Let’s remember that the previous Prime Minister of Israel Benjamin Netanyahu said that TsAGAL is preparing for a ground invasion in Gaza and its deadlines have been accepted.
Let’s remember that Hamas thanked Russia and China for their support. The Islamists said they greatly appreciated help from Moscow and Beijing, particularly on the issue of the US vetoing the UN Security Council resolution.
