Russia still retains some offensive capabilities and could attack again in the coming months. This opinion was expressed at a briefing by US National Security Council representative John Kirby.

According to him, Russia’s offensive is carried out in several directions, in particular in the areas of Avdeevka, Liman and Kupyansk.
But since October 11, Russia has suffered significant losses in these areas: in particular, at least 125 armored vehicles around Avdievka and more than a battalion’s worth of military equipment, said John Kirby, strategic communications coordinator for the White House National Security Council.
We have information that the Russian military actually executed soldiers who refused to follow orders. “We also have information that Russian commanders are threatening to shoot entire units if they try to retreat under Ukrainian artillery fire,” he noted.
According to Kirby, this Russian offensive is another “sobering reminder” that Russian President Putin has not given up his plans to take over all of Ukraine, so it is important for the United States and allies to continue to support Kiev.
Earlier, the head of the Avdeevka MBA, Vitaly Barabash, said that in two to three weeks Avdeevka would be destroyed to the foundation.
Since October 10, dozens of multi-story buildings have been destroyed to the ground. Some of the houses were hit by two missiles, and some buildings were destroyed by KABs, said the head of the city military administration, Vitaly Barabash.
He said that the city was indeed being destroyed “by leaps and bounds.”
And looking at this destruction, you understand that at this rate of shelling, Avdiivka will turn into Marinka in 2-3 weeks. That is, everything will remain at the foundation level, that’s for sure,” he said.
Barabash added that currently 1,599 local residents remain in Avdeevka. People survive using humanitarian aid that is delivered to the city.
According to him, on the eve of Tuesday, October 24, the evacuation of the city was stopped due to constant shelling. Barabash emphasized that “you definitely need to leave the city, no matter what, because the main thing is life.”
