The representative of the Slovak parliament, Peter Pellegrini, said that his country wants to maintain its own defense capabilities.
Slovakia can no longer provide military aid to Ukraine because it needs to maintain its own defense capabilities. This was said by the Speaker of the Slovak Parliament, Peter Pellegrini, Teraz.sk reports.
He assures that Bratislava will not have the opportunity to transfer arms to Kyiv, but it plans to “prolong” the provision of humanitarian aid.
“We will probably not talk about lethal weapons or missile systems anymore, because we have exhausted our capabilities. If Slovakia wants to maintain some level of its own defense capabilities, then ( it must be understood that – ed.) it is no longer capable of providing military assistance with weapons,” the official stated.
The new Prime Minister of Slovakia, Robert Fico, said that he informed the head of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen, about the cessation of military aid to Ukraine.
He said that Slovakia will focus on humanitarian assistance.
We remind you that Robert Fico confirmed that he will not support military aid to Ukraine, as he said during the election campaign. He said it would be better for Ukraine and Russia to “negotiate peace for 10 years than to kill each other for 10 years.”
