The head of the Slovak government confirmed the refusal to help Kyiv during his speech to members of the parliamentary committee on European affairs before the leaders’ summit in Brussels on October 26. He also made a strange statement and hinted that Ukraine may not receive military assistance from Slovakia for decades. This was reported by Aktuality.
It’s better for them to negotiate peace for 10 years than to kill each other for 10 years without results,” Fico emphasized.
The pro-Russian politician also said that now, during the war between Ukraine and the Russian Federation, the aggressor country has “greater territorial achievements than Ukraine.”
Let us remind you that the early parliamentary elections in Slovakia were won by the pro-Russian party Smer-SD, which received more than 20% of the votes. The leader of this political force is Robert Fico, who, after winning the elections, stated that “people in Slovakia are experiencing greater problems than Ukraine.” He promised to stop military aid to Ukraine and make foreign policy independent of partners from the EU and the United States.
Already on October 25, it became known that Robert Fico, who had already held this post in 2006-2010 and 2012-2018, officially became the new Prime Minister of Slovakia.
