Hamas is not a terrorist organization, but a liberation organization fighting to defend its land. Israel, the West has a lot to blame for you, Turkey owes you nothing,” the president and Turkish media quote the statement.
The Turkish leader canceled his visit to Israel and said that his country has no problems with Israel, but is not satisfied with Israeli policies towards the Palestinians. Therefore, all upcoming visits of Turkish officials to Israel have been cancelled.
Erdogan proposes to convene a Palestinian-Israeli peace conference and create a structure with guarantees from foreign countries for both sides, reports the Turkish publication Hurriyet.
Ankara itself is ready to become a guarantor for the Palestinians.
Both sides need practical steps, especially our offer of guarantees. We expect the Organization of Islamic Cooperation to demonstrate a position consistent with its mission. We, Turkey, believe that cooperation with Islamic countries is the most effective method. Türkiye will never shy away from responsibility. We view the issue of guarantees as the most effective method of achieving a realistic solution. We are ready to be a guarantor of the Palestinian side with our political and military presence, the Turkish President said.
He called for “pressure on the Netanyahu government to bring Israel back to consciousness” and “abandon the concept of the cross and crescent.”
