Attacks on US military targets in Syria and Iraq are being carried out by Iran-backed groups, the Pentagon said.

Two dozen US troops were injured in a series of drone attacks on US bases in Iraq and Syria last week. NBC News reported this in connection with the US Central Command (CENTCOM).

The Pentagon confirmed the attacks, but did not disclose the number of casualties.

According to CENTCOM, 20 US troops were slightly wounded on October 18 when at least two attack drones targeted the Al Tanf military base in southern Syria.

One of the drones was shot down, all wounded personnel returned to duty, and no military installations were damaged.

That same day, four more US troops suffered minor injuries in two separate drone attacks against US and coalition forces stationed at the Al Asad base in western Iraq.

Earlier, Pentagon spokesman Patrick Ryder said that in the past week, US and coalition forces have been attacked at least ten times in Iraq and three times in Syria “using a combination of drones and missiles by attack.”

Ryder said the groups carrying out the attacks were backed by Iran.

It will be recalled that on October 19, a US Navy ship intercepted missiles off the coast of Yemen.
