The French leader will meet with the families of those killed in the Hamas attack and Israeli officials.
French President Emmanuel Macron arrived on a solidarity visit to Israel. On the morning of October 24, his plane landed at Tel Aviv airport, BFM-TV reported.
The French leader is scheduled to meet with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, President Isaac Herzog, opposition leaders, and families of those killed in the Hamas attack.
He will also visit Ramallah in the West Bank to meet with Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas.
According to the Elysee Palace, Macron’s visit to Israel has three main goals: to reaffirm total unity, avoid further escalation in the region and “resolutely restart a real peace process.”
He should also make efforts to free French captives and petition for a “humanitarian truce” in the region.
Earlier, US President Joe Biden and British Prime Minister Rishi Sunak visited Israel.
Let’s remember that on October 7, Hamas militants carried out a massive rocket attack on Israel and entered its territory. In response, the Israeli army announced the start of Operation Iron Swords and daily attacks on the group’s targets in the Gaza Strip.
Israel responded that the ground operation would be postponed due to the hostages
