An IDF tank accidentally fired and hit an Egyptian post adjacent to the border in the Kerem Shalom area.
During the day, an explosion occurred near the Rafah checkpoint between Egypt and the Gaza Strip. This was heard when a second convoy with humanitarian aid entered the territory of the checkpoint, Reuters wrote.
The Israel Defense Forces later said it had accidentally fired on a tank at an Egyptian checkpoint.
“A few hours ago, an IDF tank accidentally fired and hit an Egyptian post adjacent to the border in the Kerem Shalom area,” the report said.
It is known that the incident is currently being investigated and the details are being clarified.
“The IDF regrets what happened,” the Israeli Defense Forces added.
It was previously reported that the United States and Israel are studying the possibility of creating an interim government in the Gaza Strip with the support of the UN and the involvement of Arab governments after the expulsion of the Hamas terrorist movement from the enclave.
