Oksana Markarova emphasized that the American leader, Joe Biden, usually asks Congress for $105 billion.
Ukraine could receive $61.4 billion in aid from the United States. Most of the funds will go to the defense industry. This is what the Ambassador of Ukraine to the United States Oksana Markarova said on her Facebook page.
According to him, in the American budget law, a request is the vision of the administration. Therefore, the numbers must be reviewed when this vision becomes a budget document within Congress.
US President Joe Biden has asked Congress for a total of $105 billion. Of this, Ukraine can receive $61.4 billion, Markarov explained.
He also added that these funds will go to:
-
defense spending – $46.1 billion, of which $30.6 billion is allocated for programs for the US Department of Defense.
-
18 billion – to replenish defense goods from Pentagon warehouses, reimbursing costs for defense services and military education and training provided to the government of Ukraine;
-
12 billion – for the Ukrainian Security Assistance Initiative;
-
1.7 billion – for the State Department’s Foreign Military Financing program for Ukraine and other US partners affected by the war in Ukraine;
-
14.4 billion – for technical and intelligence support, increased weapons production, cyber security, etc.
-
11.8 billion – to provide direct budget support to Ukraine.
-
2.2 billion – to support urgent needs for reconstruction and development programs in Ukraine and other countries in the region affected by the war;
-
360 million to the State Department to support the Ukrainian government in restoring and maintaining the rule of law, with a focus on recently liberated and damaged territories;
-
100 million – for the US State Department for non-proliferation, counter-terrorism, mine clearance and related programs;
-
149.5 million – assistance in the field of nuclear safety (US Department of Energy);
-
481 million – for support programs for Ukrainians coming to the United States under the Uniting for Ukraine program.
The United States wants to allocate part of the money for humanitarian aid to Ukraine, Israel and other regions (the breakdown by country has not yet been completed):
-
$3.5 billion for humanitarian assistance through US State Department programs;
-
5.7 billion to fund USAID programs to meet growing humanitarian needs.
Earlier, Joe Biden said that the success of Ukraine and Israel is important to US national security.
In addition, Biden previously made a video address to the people of the US. He condemned the actions of Hamas and Russia, saying that the attacks on Israel and the invasion of Ukraine had common motives.
