The energy system is fully prepared to go through the winter. This season, its air defense protection has been strengthened.
Russia will not be able to orchestrate a total blackout in Ukraine this winter, as it did last winter. Energy Minister German Galushchenko expressed this confidence during the telethon.
He said the energy system is fully prepared to withstand the winter, and there are no planned outages yet.
“The only thing that can affect a blackout or shutdown is the consequences of the attacks, the scale of the attacks and the corresponding damage to the system. I can’t imagine what the development of events will be, the magnitude of the impact of these attacks on the system,” he said, adding that power engineers will respond depending on the situation.
“They were working for it (long blackout – ed.) last winter, but disappeared. I am quite sure that they will also disappear this winter,” added Galushchenko.
Galushchenko also noted that now energy facilities are protected by air defense systems compared to the last warming period.
Earlier, the Ministry of Energy denied rumors about the use of blackout schedules.
As reported, this year energy facilities will have three levels of protection in case of Russian attack by missiles and drones.
