The UK Ministry of Defense regards Russian dictator Vladimir Putin’s statement about patrolling the Black Sea with Kinzhal hypersonic missile carriers as an attempt to demonstrate Russia’s military might.

This is stated in a British intelligence review released on October 21 on Twitter.
During a visit to China on October 18, Putin announced that Moscow would begin fighter patrols in the eastern Black Sea using MiG-31I aircraft armed with Kh-47M2 Kinzhal air-launched ballistic missiles. Then the Russian president referred to the strengthening of the US maritime presence in the eastern Mediterranean.
This statement is consistent with typical Russian rhetoric aimed at domestic audiences, which calls the West the aggressor and portrays Russia’s actions as necessary to defend the state, the review says.
The statement about the presence of “Daggers” in the MiG-31 is regarded by British intelligence as a “strategic message” that Russia can still produce and operate new weapons, despite the war against Ukraine.
On paper, it remains very powerful, capable of reaching hypersonic speeds and evading modern air defense systems, although it almost certainly requires significant improvements in how Russia uses it to realize this potential, the British defense department concludes.
