The President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky thanked the President of Poland Andrzej Duda for the decision to go on tour to EU countries to support Ukraine’s European integration. On Wednesday, June 8, Vladimir Zelensky said in his evening video message.
“I am grateful to the President of Poland Andrzej Duda and a friend of all Ukrainians, because he has now gone on a special trip to Europe to support the European vision of our state. This June is a decision on the candidacy should be received, ”Zelensky said.
He added that now all friends and Ukrainian diplomats are working on it.
The President noted that Slovak President Zuzanna Chaputova should have joined Duda. But the politician tested positive for COVID-19 and was forced to stay at home.
“Well, these are the conditions of our lives today. I wish Zuzanna a quick recovery,” Zelensky continued.
The President also said that he has now met with German Chancellor Olaf Scholz.
“It’s also about the decision in favor of Ukraine about the candidacy, which, in fact, will be a decision in favor of Europe. They talked about defense support. And about food security, which guarantees which one is real “Because no one can be interested, apart from the state of Russia, in the global food crisis,” Zelensky said.

Earlier, Foreign Minister Dmitry Kuleba said that in order to obtain the status of a candidate for EU membership, Ukraine needs to overcome the psychological barrier of some countries.
