Every year, about 140 thousand Ukrainians learn that they have oncology. At the same time, early diagnosis of the disease remains one of the key factors for successful treatment.

The Ministry of Health warns that the increase in oncological diseases detected in the final stages will be recorded in Ukraine, which will significantly affect the effectiveness and duration of treatment. This was announced on Wednesday, June 8, by the Ministry of Health of Ukraine.

They noted that the main reasons for a significant increase in oncology cases were long -term quarantine and war.

“It is also necessary to consider the impact of war on mental health, as a result of which certain diseases may present themselves 10 to 15 years earlier than the average in the population. With that in mind this, we recommend that everyone who is in safe regions take care of health and conduct preventive visits to the doctor, – said the Minister of Health Viktor Lyashko.

Among the tests that can help detect cancer at an early stage, the Ministry of Health recommends undergoing: mammography – an examination of the mammary glands; hysteroscopy – examination of the uterus; esophagogastroduodenoscopy (gastroscopy) – examination of the esophagus and stomach; colonoscopy – examination of the large intestine; bronchoscopy – examination of the trachea and bronchi.

At the same time, patients are guaranteed:

  • doctor’s consultation,

  • study,

  • analysis and description of results,

  • local or general anesthesia during hysteroscopy, bronchoscopy, esophagogastroduodenoscopy, colonoscopy and cystoscopy.

“Research can be done free of charge at the direction of the doctor where the declaration was completed, or at the direction of the attending physician,” the Ministry of Health said.

The Ministry of Health added that age limits are set for diagnostic tests: mammography and colonoscopy are prescribed after 40 years, and hysteroscopy, gastroscopy, cystoscopy, bronchoscopy – after 50 years.

“Patients at this age with a referral from a physician can undergo a study free of charge at medical institutions that have agreements with NSZU in the relevant areas,” the department stressed.

For younger patients, the doctor may issue a referral for such studies if a neoplasm is suspected. In this case, the studies will be paid for by the National Health Service of Ukraine.

Earlier it was reported that the United States has created a drug for the treatment of cancer. In the experiment, he showed 100% efficiency.
