Addressing the American public, he compared the events of this month in Israel with almost 20 months of war in Ukraine. The American leader indicated that support for both wars in Israel and Ukraine is “vital to America’s national security.”
Biden confirmed he will send an “urgent budget request” to Congress today to “fund America’s national security needs to support our critical partners, including Israel and Ukraine.”
It is a smart investment that will pay dividends for American security for generations to come. Help us keep American troops out of harm’s way. Help us build a safer, more peaceful, prosperous world for our children and grandchildren,” Biden explained.
According to him, military assistance to Kyiv helps create jobs in America. Biden also warned that US enemies and competitors are watching. In addition, the US President spoke out against Islamophobia and anti-Semitism that have intensified in recent days.
He also repeated his promise to bring American hostages home to America, saying that “there is no higher priority for me than the safety of the American hostages.”
Biden reiterated support for a two-state solution: “Israel and the Palestinians still deserve to live in security, dignity and peace.” The US President tried to draw a clear distinction between Hamas and the Palestinian people. He said the militant group “does not represent the Palestinian people” and accused it of using Palestinians “as human shields.”
