The experience of the Ukrainian army could be a great asset for the North Atlantic Alliance in the future.

Germany supports Ukraine’s membership in NATO, but during the war, Kyiv’s entry into the Alliance was impossible. German Ambassador to Ukraine Martin Jäger said this on Thursday, October 19, in an interview with European Pravda.

“No, we are not actively opposed to the membership of Ukraine. There is no need to think. It is clear to us that the future of Ukraine depends on the European Union and NATO. And we are now only discussing ways to join NATO ,” the diplomat noted.

Jaeger recalled that at the July NATO summit in Vilnius there was a clear understanding on all sides that Ukraine’s entry into NATO was impossible while there was a war.

The ambassador also emphasized that the experience of the Ukrainian army could be a great asset for the North Atlantic Alliance in the future.

Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu said that NATO countries are preparing for a nuclear strike on Russian territory. In his opinion, the Alliance could deliver such a blow “during military exercises.”

In the past, Stoltenberg said that NATO should conduct a long-term program in Ukraine.
